CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2002--Golf balls made by Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) were used to win three events around the world yesterday, boosting the Company's 2002 golf ball victory total to 67. Callaway Golf Ball Staff Professionals Padraig Harrington and Peter Lonard both continued their recent strong play with victories using the CTU 30(R) Red golf ball, while Callaway Golf Staff Professional Mark McNulty used the HX(R) Red golf ball to notch the 51st victory of his quarter-century international golf career.

Harrington won the Target World Challenge, an unofficial PGA Tour event hosted by Tiger Woods. Harrington prevailed in a tight duel down the stretch with Tiger at Sherwood Country Club, posting a two-stroke victory and claiming the $1 million first prize -- the largest payday of his career. Harrington also used an Odyssey(R) White Hot(R) "2-Ball" Putter to post his 20-under-par 268. Harrington, who won the Asian Open two weeks ago using the CTU 30 Red golf ball, compiled three worldwide wins this year using that ball model.

Like Harrington, Lonard also is on a recent roll with the CTU 30 Red golf ball. He was declared co-champion of last week's Australian PGA Championship when the event ended in darkness, then won yesterday's Australian Masters in a three-way playoff. Lonard's nine-under-par 279 got him into the playoff, which he won on the third hole. This is Lonard's third victory at the Australian Masters, and it earned him a spot in the 2003 Masters Tournament.

Meanwhile, McNulty relied upon the advanced aerodynamic design of the HX Red golf ball to win the Vodacom Players Championship for a third time. McNulty's 16-under-par 272 was good for a three-stroke victory at Royal Cape Golf Club in Cape Town, South Africa. At age 49, McNulty is the oldest winner in the modern era of the South Africa Sunshine Tour. McNulty used 12 Callaway Golf(R) clubs in his victory, including a Big Bertha(R) ERC(R) II Forged Titanium Driver, Steelhead(TM) III Strong 3-wood, Big Bertha 2-iron and Steelhead X-14(R) Pro Series Irons.
