Callaway Golf's New Big Bertha C4 Driver, Odyssey White Hot `2-Ball' Putter are Winners On Tour for the Third Consecutive Week
Scott, 24, made a clutch par on the final hole to secure the victory by one stroke over three others, including Callaway Golf Staff Professional Jeff Quinney, 23. Scott and Quinney are two of Callaway Golf's up and coming staff professionals. Scott, who was a winner on the Canadian Tour last year, was runner-up at the 1996 U.S. Amateur Championship. Quinney won the 2000 U.S. Amateur Championship and turned professional last year.
"I hit the Big Bertha C4 Driver so solid all week -- I only missed five fairways," Scott said. "And I felt really confident on the greens with the '2-Ball' Putter." Scott led the Texas Classic in putting, ending the event by two-putting from 50 feet to secure his victory.
Scott and Quinney were atop the leaderboard for much of the inaugural Texas Classic. Quinney led after each of the first three rounds and narrowly missed a 45-foot birdie putt on the final hole that could have forced a playoff. Scott took the lead midway through the final round and won with a score of 14-under-par 274. In all, Scott used 11 Callaway Golf(R) clubs in his victory, including Steelhead(TM) X-14(R) Pro Series Irons and the CTU 30(TM) Red ball. Quinney used 12 Callaway Golf clubs, including a Big Bertha(R) Hawk Eye(R) VFT(R) Pro Series Titanium Driver, Steelhead X-14 Pro Series Irons and an Odyssey White Hot 4 Putter, along with a CTU 30 Red ball.
Scott's victory with the Big Bertha C4 Driver and Odyssey White Hot "2-Ball" Putter follow Callaway Golf Staff Professional Annika Sorenstam's two consecutive victories using those clubs. This weekend Sorenstam will be trying to win her third straight tournament when she defends her title at the Ping Banner Health -- the event at which she shot her LPGA Tour-record 59 last year.
The Big Bertha C4 Driver and Odyssey White Hot "2-Ball" Putter were also in the bag of Callaway Golf Niclas Fasth when he finished second at the Dubai Desert Classic yesterday. Fasth shot 12-under-par 276 at Emirates Golf Club and moved to fourth place on the PGA European Tour Order of Merit. Using the Big Bertha C4 Driver, Fasth averaged 290.9 yards in driving distance at the event and hit 75 percent of the fairways. Fasth used a total of 13 Callaway Golf clubs at the event, including a Big Bertha Steelhead III Strong 3-wood and 4-wood, Steelhead X-14 Pro Series Irons and a pair of Callaway Golf prototype wedges, as well as the new HX(TM) Red golf ball.
