CARLSBAD, CA., June 20, 2000 – Wielding an Odyssey® White Hot™ 2 Putter, Annika Sorenstam eagled the first playoff hole at the LPGA Evian Masters this past weekend to defeat Karrie Webb. The victory was the 21st of Sorenstam’s career and her third of the season with a White Hot Putter made by Odyssey Golf, a division of Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY). Odyssey White Hot Putters have now recorded 10 wins on the world’s five major tours combined since their introduction in January.

Sorenstam putted flawlessly in the final round, including a two-putt birdie on the par-5 18th hole to force a playoff with Webb. Playing the 18th again in the playoff, Sorenstam holed a five-footer for the winning eagle. Annika had just 29 putts over the 19 holes. The $270,000 winner’s check she earned is the largest in LPGA Tour history and boosted her to second on the tour’s money list.

Sorenstam was one of five top-10 finishers at the Evian Masters to use an Odyssey Putter, including Alison Nicholas, who finished tied for fifth using an Odyssey White Hot 1 Putter. Odyssey Putters were the most-played putters at the Evian Masters, with 34.6 percent of the field putting one in play, according to Sports Marketing Surveys, Ltd.

Odyssey White Hot Putters also scored a victory in Japan last weekend. The winner of the Yomiuri Open on the Japan Golf Tour used an Odyssey White Hot 4 Putter. Odyssey Putters were the most-played putters at the event, and Odyssey is the No. 1 putter brand on the Japan Golf Tour this year.

Through June 18, Odyssey Putters are the most-played putters on the world’s five major professional tours combined in 2000. According to the Darrell Survey Company and Sports Marketing Surveys, Ltd., 31.3 percent of all putters used on the PGA, Senior PGA, LPGA, BUY.COM and PGA European tours combined this year have been Odyssey Putters, compared with 22.6 percent for the nearest competitor.
