Callaway Golf Staff Professional Pierre Fulke Uses ERC Driver And “Rule 35” Ball In Victory

CARLSBAD, CA., August 28, 2000 – Callaway Golf (NYSE: ELY) Staff Professional Pierre Fulke won the Scottish PGA Championship yesterday, becoming the first player to win a professional tour event with the ERC™ Forged Titanium Driver. Fulke also trusted the “Complete Performance™” of the new Callaway “Rule 35™” ball in the win, his second on the PGA European Tour.

Using a winning combination of a 10-degree ERC Driver and the “Rule 35” Softfeel™ (blue logo) ball, Fulke was nearly flawless during the final two rounds of the Scottish PGA Championship. He shot a bogey-free 70 in the final round to win by two shots over Henrik Nystrom. The victory was Fulke’s first since he suffered a wrist injury shortly after his win in last September’s Trophe Lancome.

“The level of my game is back where it was last year, probably even better,” Fulke said. “It’s going in the right direction. Since switching to the ERC Driver and the “Rule 35” ball, I’ve been playing with great confidence. I didn’t miss a single fairway the last two days.”

In all, Fulke used 12 Callaway Golf® clubs at the Scottish PGA Championship, including his ERC Forged Titanium Driver, Steelhead Plus™ Strong 3-wood and 4-wood, and Big Bertha® X-12® Irons.

  • And 70-year-old Arnold Palmer used the prototype driver and a “Rule 35” Firmfeel ball to better his age for the first time in competition, shooting a 69 during the second round of the FleetBoston Classic.
